Each year on Holy Saturday during the Easter Vigil, thousands are baptized into the Catholic Church in the United States. Parishes welcome these new Catholics through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). We are pleased to welcome to the faith those who have not yet been baptized (catechumens) and those who have been validly baptized in another Christian tradition and are now seeking the Full Communion of the Catholic Church (candidates).
Twice a year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring, Bishop Ricken celebrates the Sacrament of Confirmation with Catholic adults who have been prepared for the sacrament either at the parish or through the diocesan prepration classes.
The following resources are intended to assist parishes with this process of preparing adults for the Sacraments of Initiation.
